About Us

The Audiovisual Rights Forum is a membership network which serves as a premier meeting and policy forum for Africans to unite under a Copyright Unity Pact. Our goal is to bring together Artists, Collective Management Organizations (CMOs), Rights Holders, Governments, Parliaments, Artist Managers, National Intellectual Property & Copyright Offices, Civil Society, & Cultural Organizations to collaborate and foster the protection of audiovisual rights across the continent.

Importance of audiovisual rights

Audiovisual rights are important because they protect the creators of audiovisual works from unauthorised use or exploitation of their content. These rights allow creators to control how their works are used and to benefit financially from their creations.

Audiovisual works include music videos, movies, television shows, video games, and online videos. The creators of these works typically hold the audiovisual rights, but they may also transfer or license these rights to others, such as production companies, distributors, or streaming platforms.
