George Robert Asewe is an Intellectual Property and Entertainment lawyer and DJ behind major music business developments in the Kenya Market since 2015 including forming a collective management organization including petitioning and applying for a Collective Management Organization license from the Kenya copyright board.
The Law Society of Kenya accredits him. He trains Kenyan and African lawyers in Intellectual Property & Entertainment Business Law. He consults for global music brands including Sheer Publishers Africa a Downtown Music Holdings Company. He provides licensing consulting services in Africa to independent creators and labels. He consults international original publishers including Universal Music Publishing, Warner Chappell Music, BMG Rights Management, and Sony/ATV Music Publishing.
He is the Founder & CEO of The Music Advocate Africa. It is an e-learning and business development company for copyright industries in Africa.
He was the first lawyer in Kenya 🇰🇪 to challenge the validity of telecommunication companies copyright business streaming services. These services operated without valid licenses from music owners and CMOs. These services were not licensed by music rights organizations. This began the journey of amending the Kenya Copyright Act.
He successfully initiated public interest litigation that led to the new era of auditing of Collective Management Organisations in Kenya.
He successfully defended the Music Publishers Association of Kenya, a Collective Rights Management organization. The defence was against a copyright infringement claim of 100 million Kenya shillings. This claim was filed by the Music Copyright Society of Kenya. The suit was dismissed.


He has drafted a CMO law reform Bill. The Bill seeks to reform the Kenya music business landscape. It aims for collective management of music, film, visual arts, and digital rights. He is looking to work with music companies and professionals in the music, copyright, and entertainment industry. This includes persons or entities that rely on royalty from exploitation of their intellectual property rights. He works with groups and individuals affected by cultural industry policies.
He is looking to work with international associations of Collective Management Organisations, Collective Management Organisations, Media Broadcasters, Artists organizations, Entertainment organizations, Film Producers, Sports organizations, international music publishers, music managers, music producers, film distribution companies, actors, artist organizations, rights organizations, academic institutions, nonprofit organizations & public sector institutions.
