Development of CMO staff skills and awareness

Explanation
In order to ensure the provision of high-quality services, a CMO should encourage the on-going development of its staff’s skills and knowledge through, for example, training programs. A CMO should take reasonable steps to ensure that its employees and agents are aware of, and at all times comply with the applicable code of conduct, regulation, or legislation.
PROVISIONS OF THE BILL IN REGARD TO STAFF DEVELOMENT & AWARENESS FOR CMOs.
1. A CMO should encourage the development of appropriate skills and knowledge amongst its staff, and document that it has established procedures, which ensure that the staff is updated on rules relevant to its operation. 2. A CMO should take steps to ensure that its employees and agents are aware of the procedures for handling complaints and dispute resolution, and are able to explain those procedures to Members, Users/Licensees, and the general public. |

HOW OTHER COUNTRIES ARE DEALING WITH THE PROPOSAL
Australian CMOs: According to the Australian Collecting Societies Code of Conduct “Each Collecting Society will take reasonable steps to ensure that its employees and agents are aware of, and at all times comply with, the Australian Collecting Societies Code of Conduct. In particular, a Collecting Society will take reasonable steps to ensure that its employees and agents are aware of the procedures for handling complaints and resolving disputes set out in clause 3, and are able to explain those procedures to Members, Licensees and the general public.” CISAC: According CISAC Professional Rules “Each [CMO]Member shall encourage the development of appropriate skills and knowledge amongst its staff by having in place training and development program for the benefit of all staff.” |
